Wrapping Up “The Triad”: Physiology in Your Morning Ritual

Hey guys, this is David Ecklund from DavidEcklund.com. Welcome back to Resilient Legacy Expat Dad Coaching, and another Break on the Bench! My boys have decided to join me for this video, so I hope you all enjoy it.

Wrapping Up the Mini-Series on “The Triad”

This video concludes our mini-series on The Triad, which is how we all determine our state of being at any given moment. The Triad is composed of three key elements: focus, language and meaning, and physiology. Today, we’re going to focus on physiology and put it in the context of a morning ritual.

The Power of a Morning Ritual

So, what is a morning ritual, and why is it important? We all have something we do more or less consistently every morning. How you begin anything sets the tone for that experience. It shapes your momentum and sets your standards for the day. As I like to say, “All your philosophy is barren if you can’t live a beautiful day.”

Using Physiology to Transform Your State

We want to use physiology to magnify our intentions for the day. Physiology is how you can make the most radical shift in your state in the shortest amount of time. All right, let’s take a walk. Come on, boys!

Amplifying Appreciation with Language and Gestures

In the last video, I talked about using powerful language that taps into your core values to magnify the things you appreciate in life. You can take this even further by adding a gesture that feels authentic to you.

Let me give you an example of what works for me. When I say, “Praise Christ for my life,” I add a gesture that amplifies it—something like this: “Praise Christ for my life!” There are two main elements in this: the triumphant “PAH!”—like a conqueror reveling in strength and victory—and then letting go into gratitude, thankfulness, and even humor at the incredible fortune you’re celebrating.

Personalize Your Own Gesture

That’s what works for me, but you should come up with your own gesture that feels authentic. I do this often in the mornings. It’s part of the first phase of my morning routine, repeating it over and over until my whole being resonates with it.

Try It for Yourself

I invite you to try it out! See how it impacts your morning and your state of mind. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you in the next video.
